Driving In Spain after Brexit

As an UK citizen, now or (nearly resident in Spain) if you used Expay to register and subsequently you will be exchanged before the 30th June , then this isn't the article for you as you have met the deadline.

EU/EEA citizens driving in Spain If you’re from a European Economic Area (EEA) country (EU plus Iceland, Norway, and Lichtenstein) you are free to drive in Spain using your existing driver’s license for the first two years in Spain. You must also register with the traffic authorities after six months

Now the question is what happens if i missed the Deadline for registering before the 30th December 2020 and i am a resident in Spain

What do i need to do next? Please read on and let's see what needs to be done.

Getting a driving license in Spain, what are the steps to take?

First of all Do Not Panic!

Driving school in Spain

The first step before aspiring to get your license is to join a driving school.

This is very important and it doesn’t matter whether you are an experienced driver and have driven in another country or this is the first time you are getting a driving license.

Practical Driving lessons at a driving school are mandatory in Spain.

This is because the examiner that approves your certificate in Spain needs a car that must have a second set of controls on the passenger side in case you forget what to do, or in case the main controls fail.

The second reason to go to a driving school is to learn the theoretical concepts you need to know before taking the exam at the Transit Department near your residence in Spain. These days, some schools offer theory material online, and a few have Spain driving theory in English online

Most of these schools have samples of the tests that will guide you to pass them without too much trouble.

You must take lessons through a recognized driving school

The test has two parts: a written theory test (see some test questions below) as well as a practical test. Both are usually taken in Spanish although you can take a translator with you and in some areas of Spain there are English-speaking examiners.

Finally get in touch and I can help with the process and try to make it easier by taking the paperwork required off you and making the necessary appointments and arrangements that are needed.
